The journey from Kuala Lumpur takes about 1 ½ hours, driving through small villages. This tour also includes Kuala Selangor Nature Park, Bukit Melawati and the Fireflies colonies. The Kuala Selangor Nature Park covers about 800 acres of secondary scrub, wetlands intertidal mudflats and mangroves swamp. It is a world-renowned bird sanctuary, with about 160 species recorded here. Run by the Malaysian Nature Society it feature hides paths watchtowers and broad walks.
Bukit Melawati Landscaped Hill offers a beautiful paranomic view of the Selangor Coast. Shaded by the ancient rain trees are several fascinating historical attractions such as The Altingsburg Lighthouse, The Royal Mausoleum, the ruined fort, the legendary 100 steps (A fabled execution block) children’s playground and a quaint rest house. Silver leafed monkeys are also found on this hill.
Just outside Kuala Selangor Town is the quiet hamlet of Kampung Kuantan and Bukit Belimbing, site of one of the largest firefly colonies in the world. The nocturnal tour is extremely popular with boat rides. Lifejacket are provided and the skilled oarsmen will make this experience a memorable and unforgettable one.
